Senior Accountant-Sparta

Purpose of the job

Q Holding Co is seeking a Senior Accountant to lead the financial activities of our growing division, currently consisting of a manufacturing plant and a satellite location. Senior accountant is the business partner to the operations team and a member of corporate accounting team, and is accountable for plant-level responsibilities including general accounting, payables, receivables, order entry, cost accounting, business analysis, financial reporting, sales management, and payroll processing. This individual will assist corporate accounting team with on-boarding and integrating future acquisitions, eventually leading the financial practices of the division.

In addition, this role analyzes, and reports results to accounting and finance leadership and key business stakeholders in an accurate and timely manner; identifies and implements process improvement opportunities; and builds and maintains strong relationships across the organization to help further develop accounting best practices.

Key accountabilities

  • Prepare monthly reports of results, monthly forecasts, annual operating plan, and strategic planning
  • Responsible for internal controls at the plant for operations, sales and finance
  • Analyze and accurately report current month’s financial results to the plant, sales, and corporate management in accordance with corporate format and time requirements
  • Maintain a perpetual inventory for finished goods and reconcile this perpetual to production, shipping, and returns on a daily basis. Review labor reporting and cost, material costs, manufacturing overhead, distribution cost, returns and inventory levels
  • Establish and maintain internal controls and accounting policies/procedures and educate global finance teams on all changes to accounting standards to ensure the protection of assets and investments. Formulate and administer approved accounting practices to ensure that financial and operating reports accurately reflect the condition of the business and provide reliable information necessary to control operations
  • Proposes recommendations for changes and improvements to accounting policies/procedures; drives and partners with cross-functional teams to develop and implement approved changes
  • Travel as needed (both domestic and international)

Reporting relationships

  • Position reports to Corporate Controller in Solon, OH

Knowledge, skills and experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting; CPA designation required
  • 5-10 years’ experience in as a plant controller or cost manager in a manufacturing environment
  • Experience with analyzing and reporting data in order to identify issues, trends, or exceptions to drive improvement of results and find solutions
  • Experience in diagnosing, isolating, and resolving complex issues and recommending and implementing strategies to resolve problems
  • Ability to communicate clearly and timely (both verbally and written) with the highest professionalism
  • Ability to inspire and foster team trust and community while building strategic relationships, achieving common goals and considering all points of view
  • Ability to handle multiple projects and priorities

  • Ability to travel domestically and internationally
